Open edX 2018 Conference

So you want to become an Open edX developer? This workshop will provide you with a solid foundation of knowledge for understanding all of Open edX's moving parts, and how to get started customizing and deploying your own Open edX site. This workshop will show attendees how to add modular features to Open edX. There are a variety of ways to customize Open edX depending on the use case. We will go over a few different modern methods of extending or adding new features to Open edX.

The Open edX platform provides very rich data that can be used for tracking student progress, improving content, and answering research questions. Many of these goals can be accomplished using the Open edX Insights tool, but occasionally more custom tools are required. This tutorial will show how to build custom analytics tools using the open source D4M library.

We are aiming to make this tutorial hands-on! The code, notebooks, and data used in this tutorial is available through github. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop and follow along! All dependencies and setup instructions are detailed on the github page and we ask that those following along download and install the dependencies ahead of time.
