Open edX from scratch
With how complex the Open edX configuration repository has become, it is easy to lose track of what is going on during a playbook run to install Open edX. In this workshop we outline how to set up Open edX from scratch, without using the Ansible playbooks, to get a better understanding of the requirements and mechanics of an Open edX installation. This knowledge helps designing custom Open edX hosting solutions.

If you want to participate in the hands-on exercises, you will need to download and install some software well before the workshop.  Please do this before the conference, since you probably won't be able to download this via the local wifi at the conference venue.

We'll focus on how to successfully deploy and support the Open edX platform in cases where there are only one or fewer dedicated IT resources assigned to the project and the operating budget for the platform is in the hundreds of dollars per month.
